Join us!
Poseidon is one of the oldest rowing clubs in the country, beautifully situated on the Amstel near Utrechtsebrug. We have a nice clubhouse and an active club life with all kinds of fun activities, such as our famous Cryptotocht, a rowing & puzzle tour on the Amsterdam canals, wonderful dinners prepared by our top cooks as well as informal rowing races and rowing tours. From October through March you can participate in our weekly outdoor training (on Wednesday evenings), followed by a shared meal.
You can be become a member from the age of 18.
Poseidon has a well-maintained fleet with several types of leisure boats for beginners and racing shells for experienced rowers; boats for sculling (two oars per rower) or sweep rowing (1 oar per rower); boats for single rowers or for two, three, four or eight rowers.
Membership
You can register as a member by completing the registration form, but you can also drop by first and get to know us.
Following your registration, we'll show you around and tell you how everything works at Poseidon. Depending on your rowing experience, we will decide whether you may need some lessons or can row independently in a single scull or in a team. You may have to do a test first.
If you are a starter, you can join our beginner course. You can take a trial lesson first, if you want to 'have a go' before joining us.
Subscription
We apply a membership fee of EUR 371 per calendar year, including a subscription to the Dutch rowing federation KNRB. If you become a member during the calendar year, the membership fee will be calculated pro rata for that year, plus KNRB subscription (EUR 45) and a one-off registration fee (EUR 27.50).
Volunteering
We expect all our members to dedicate a few hours of their time to Poseidon each year, for example as a bartender, rowing instructor, cook, coach, handyman/woman, etc.
Introductory course for €75 starting in April or September
If you don't have any rowing experience yet and want to find out if rowing is something you like before you become a member, we offer a three-month introductory course. This course will be offered twice a year (starting at the beginning of April and September of each year). For three months (13 weeks), you will get weekly rowing classes according to a fixed schedule.
During the introductory course you will get rowing lessons in a team of 4 rowers (C4 boat).
Both courses cost 75 euros per person. If you become a Poseidon member after the course, this fee will be deducted from your subscription. Want to join? Please complete the registration form.
Open days in April and September
We organize Open Days twice a year, every first Saturday of April and September (from 10 am - 2 pm). No need to register, you can just drop in.
